چکیده

Control of energy flows within a building is critical to achieving optimal performance of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. To design optimal HVAC control strategies, a dynamic model of the HVAC system – particularly the building zones that it services – is essential. As analysis of building energy consumption is facilitated by the accurate prediction of indoor environmental conditions, techniques that dynamically model HVAC zones are crucial, and as such, is an active area of research. This paper focuses on real-time HVAC zone model fitting and prediction techniques based on physical principles, as well as the use of genetic algorithms for optimization. The proposed approach is validated by comparing real-time HVAC zone model fitting and prediction against the corresponding experimental measurements. In addition, comparison with prediction results using an algorithm based on feedback-delayed Kalman filters has demonstrated the superiority of the proposed approach in terms of prediction accuracy. 2009 Elsevier B.V. HVACMeter: Apportionment of HVAC Power to Thermal Zones and Air Handler Units

Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems consume almost half of the total energy use of commercial buildings. To optimize HVAC energy usage, it is important to understand the energy consumption of individual HVAC components at fine granularities. However, buildings typically only have aggregate building level power and thermal meters. We present HVACMeter, a system which leverag...

Adaptive Hierarchical Fuzzy controller for HVAC Systems in Low Energy Buildings

Proper control for low energy buildings is more difficult than conventional buildings due to their complexity and sensitivity to operating conditions. In this paper, Adaptive Hierarchical Fuzzy control is used to control Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) System which is time varying nonlinear system. The proposed Controller is capable of maintaining comfort conditions under time ...

A new zone temperature predictive modeling for energy saving in buildings

Currently in most buildings, the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are controlled by the present temperature in the building. If the predictions for future temperature in the building or a zone were available, the building management system (BMS) could use both present and future temperatures to control HVAC systems, the energy consumed by HAVC systems could then be minim...

Application of Modeling and Simulation in Fault Detection and Diagnosis of Hvac Systems

Failures can lead to a series of problems in the complex heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems in buildings. Fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) is an important technology to solve these problems. Models can represent the behaviors of the HVAC systems, and FDD can be realized with models. Using the model as intermediary, a link between system simulation and FDD can be built. ...

An Experimental System for Advanced Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Control

While having the potential to significantly improve heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system performance, advanced (e.g., optimal, robust and various forms of adaptive) controllers have yet to be incorporated into commercial systems. Controllers consisting of distributed proportional-integral (PI) control loops continue to dominate commercial HVAC systems. Investigation into adva...
